After turning 50, Princella Seymour had a revelation that changed everything. She realized her life’s work in eldercare had not been a career she chose, but a calling she had answered long ago without even knowing it.
“I didn’t have a motivation,” she said. “I had a call. It was a divine call that I didn’t recognize until after I turned 50. I started reflecting on my life and realized, this is just natural for me. It always has been.”
Princella’s journey began in her childhood during the 1970s, when neighborhoods still functioned like villages. Everyone knew each other. Older adults looked out for children and, in turn, children were expected to show respect and lend a hand.
Even at age 10, Princella was loved by the seniors on her block. They would ask her to run errands, help around the house or simply keep them company. Without realizing it, she was developing the heart of a caregiver.
“When I was 10 years old, I had a job helping older people in my neighborhood. They would give me a few cents to pick up cookies or household items. I didn’t see it as a business, but looking back, that was my niche,” she explained.
A calling to eldercare
As she got older, Princella became a certified nursing assistant in high school and eventually trained as a licensed practical nurse. She enjoyed the work, but longed to make a bigger impact. While caring for her mother, who was dying from breast cancer, Princella reached a turning point.
“I didn’t want to keep doing bedside care,” she said. “I started seeing the gaps in our system, especially in nursing homes. So many seniors were being discharged from rehab centers and going home without any real support. Their children lived far away and had no idea what was really happening.”
She saw heartbreaking examples of seniors who insisted everything was fine over the phone, only for their children to arrive for a visit and find a completely different reality.
She found unsanitary homes, expired food, missed medications and unsafe conditions. It was clear many families had no idea how to navigate the complexities of elder care, especially from a distance.
That’s when Princella decided to act.
“I started creating business cards and offering consulting services to train social workers on how to be more resourceful,” she explained. “From that moment in 2007, I’ve been the voice, the advocate and the peacemaker between families. I solve problems and provide solutions every single day.”
Launching Complete Elder Solutions
Today, Princella is the founder and CEO of Complete Elder Solutions, a multi-state consulting firm offering a wide range of services to aging adults and their families. Her goal is to bridge the communication and caregiving gap that too often leaves seniors vulnerable and their adult children overwhelmed.
Based in Florida, Princella’s team of coaches works with clients across the United States. While some services are delivered in person, much of the support is provided virtually through Zoom, phone or email.
“We offer care management, financial oversight, bill pay review, benefit navigation, and even help coordinate moving services or legal referrals,” she explained. “We don’t just hand families a to-do list. We walk alongside them through the entire process.”
One of the most impactful aspects of Complete Elder Solutions is its role in preventing financial exploitation. The firm routinely monitors clients’ bank activity to detect red flags, such as caregivers asking for repeated checks or suspicious withdrawals.
“It’s okay to be generous to someone helping you,” Princella said. “But, that help should come with oversight. I always advise families to route gifts or support through the power of attorney so everyone is informed and protected.”
In addition to fraud prevention, Princella helps families determine whether aging parents can safely remain at home or if additional care is needed. Her advice is grounded in the client’s current situation, not wishful thinking.
“Sometimes staying at home is just not possible. It’s not about guilt. It’s about what’s best for your mom or dad, and what’s best for you, too. Caregiver burnout is real, and it helps no one,” she said.
Helping families avoid chaos in crisis
Much of Princella’s work revolves around preparation, especially encouraging families to have hard conversations long before a crisis strikes.
“Too often, families wait until something bad happens,” she noted. “By then, they are emotionally overwhelmed and scrambling for information.”
That very scenario happened to her personally. A few years ago, her sister was the victim of a drive-by shooting that left her incapacitated and in trauma care.
Princella suddenly found herself in charge of managing her sister’s life without any access to important documents, passwords, insurance details or financial accounts.
The experience changed her life again.
“I was a social worker with years of experience, and even I didn’t know what to do at first,” she recalled. “That’s when I started writing everything down. I wanted to make sure this never happened to me or anyone else I cared about.”
What began as a simple binder of notes turned into a practical workbook now available on Amazon.
“Everything You Need to Know About Me” is a guide which helps families document vital information in one place, from bank accounts and insurance policies to burial preferences and medical directives. It also includes a section for veterans to capture military-related benefits.
“I’m not selling anything. I’m giving people peace of mind,” she said. “It’s a gift. A free legacy that helps you avoid stress, save thousands of dollars and honor your parents’ wishes.”
She encourages families to review the information regularly and update it as changes occur. It is just as important to communicate those changes to everyone involved.
Serving with empathy and experience
Through her decades of work, Princella has noticed how often adult children believe they know their parents, only to realize how little they actually understand about their day-to-day lives or end-of-life desires.
“We move away for college, get married, raise our own families and only visit during the holidays,” she said. “Fifty years later, we’re expected to step in and make decisions for people we barely know anymore.”
That’s why she emphasizes building relationships and trust, both with parents and their children. She often meets families through a Zoom call that might include adult siblings in several different states.
Her job is to help everyone feel seen, heard and guided through unfamiliar territory.
“I want to decrease anxiety by 50 percent by the time a call is over,” she said. “Sometimes it’s just about being that calm voice in the storm.”
Princella also hopes to inspire others over 50 to get involved in eldercare themselves. She is actively training coaches who want to make a difference in their communities.
“This work is perfect for people in their 50s and beyond,” she said. “They have wisdom, maturity and they’re not chasing money. They’re looking for meaningful impact.”
Finding purpose after 50
Looking back, Princella wishes she had started her formal education earlier and perhaps pursued elder law as a career. But, she has no regrets about following the path that led her to develop Complete Elder Solutions.
Her passion, lived experience and calling have all come together in a way that allows Princella to serve others with empathy and excellence.
“I tell people over 50 to take a week and reflect,” she advised. “Get a coach or a mentor who can help you uncover what’s already inside you. And give yourself grace. You already know what you want and don’t want. Now go build a life around that.”
For Princella, that life means helping families make better decisions, avoid unnecessary pain and preserve dignity for the people who raised them.
“I believe everyone deserves to age with honor, and no family should have to figure it out alone,” she added.
