My guest today is Caroline Alan, who is an entrepreneur, author and co-founder of Beam Minerals. Her journey into the world of minerals began with her own frustrating health problems.
After years in a demanding corporate career, Caroline found herself struggling with chronic inflammation, sleep problems, brain fog, recurring infections and other health challenges.
She sought help from a variety of doctors and specialists, but nothing seemed to address the underlying problem.
Then a friend introduced Caroline to liquid minerals. She says the changes she experienced over the following months were so dramatic that she wanted to understand why.
That curiosity sent Caroline down a research rabbit hole. She studied minerals, cellular biology, soil science, agriculture and nutrition.
Eventually, she decided to turn what she learned into a mission to help other people better understand the role minerals play in the human body.
Caroline is now the author of “The Mineral Reset: The Essential Guide to Replenishing Your Body and Restoring Your Health.”
I really appreciated Caroline’s perspective on looking back at her life without regret.
She said she would not change anything about her life, if Caroline could roll the clock back. She believes the journey she has taken was necessary to teach her what she needed to learn.
That may be one of the biggest lessons from our conversation.
Our lives rarely follow a straight line. Caroline studied choreography, worked in woodworking and construction, helped develop technology projects and eventually found herself researching minerals and building a company around something she had barely thought about years earlier.
Yet, all those experiences contributed something to the person she is today.
Another important lesson is the value of remaining curious. When Caroline experienced changes in her own health, she did not simply accept them without question. She wanted to understand what was happening and why.
That curiosity led to years of study and, eventually, to a new mission of helping other people understand what she had learned.
For people over 50, Caroline’s story is also a reminder that we do not have to assume our most productive or meaningful years are behind us. She says she actually feels younger and more energetic today than she did 10 years ago.
Her experience suggests that when something captures our curiosity, we should investigate it. When we discover something that improves our own lives, perhaps we should share what we know so that it benefits others.
