In Episode 111, Ray Haas continues to disciple others well into his 70s

Today’s guest is Pastor Ray Haas, a man who has devoted nearly his entire adult life to proclaiming God’s word and discipling others.

After encountering Christ near the end of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps, Ray followed a calling into full-time ministry that spanned decades.

He has pastored churches, mentored leaders, trained pastors internationally, and developed powerful discipleship resources, most notably a program called “The Life Plan.”

It is a comprehensive discipleship manual that equips believers to grow in their faith, identify their spiritual gifts, and live intentionally.

Designed for use by individuals, mentors or church groups, “The Life Plan” has been translated into Swahili and is now being used to disciple church leaders across Kenya.

That’s the kind of ripple effect that’s possible when we simply say “yes” to the assignments God gives us.

Now well into his 70s, Ray remains committed to guiding others in their walk with God, proving that purposeful living doesn’t end at retirement.

Ray embodies the truth that there is no expiration date on God’s calling. His journey, which is marked by service, discipleship and spiritual mentorship, has not slowed with age. Rather it has shifted into new forms of leadership and legacy.

One of Ray’s most significant contributions is a book titled “Diagnose Shifting Faith.” In it, Ray helps readers recognize when their trust in God has subtly shifted to something or someone else, whether it is another person, political group, event or possession.

As Ray explained, such shifts often show up in emotional symptoms like irritation, frustration or fear. But by identifying those moments, people can redirect their faith to where it belongs – in God alone.

Ray’s book is a simple, yet powerful diagnostic tool for deepening our spiritual maturity and remaining grounded in the truth, especially in a world that feels increasingly unstable.

For people over 50 wondering how they can make a difference, Ray offered a powerful reminder: our purpose doesn’t have to be grand. It just has to be faithful.

Whether it’s mentoring a young parent, making coffee at church, cooking for events, or discipling someone one-on-one, your skills, talents and life experiences matter to others.

God has equipped you for such a time as this, and he will show you what your next step is, how to take it, and who will help you along the way.
