On today’s episode, you’ll meet Mike Tobey, a man who turned the heartbreak of losing his wife into a passionate mission to help others discover the beauty of heaven.
Inspired by her final wish that he do everything possible to bring as many people as he could to heaven, Mike founded a global ministry called The Heaven Guy.
Now in his 70s, Mike has reached tens of thousands of people with a message of hope, peace and eternal purpose.
Through innovative use of technology, engaging videos, and eye-catching Heaven Cards, he’s equipping believers to spark meaningful conversations and inspire curiosity about life after this one.
Mike’s story is a powerful reminder that purpose can emerge from pain, and that age is no barrier to beginning a global movement.
After his wife, Kathy, passed away from cancer in 2019, Mike devoted himself to understanding everything he could about heaven. That curiosity became a mission that now spans nearly every country on earth.
Through The Heaven Guy ministry, Mike has distributed more than 186,000 plastic Heaven Cards, each with a unique design and a QR code leading to a compelling gospel message. According to analytics, more than 10,000 people have made decisions for Christ because of this outreach, but Mike isn’t stopping there.
With the Heaven Ambassador Program, people can adopt an entire country for outreach. For $5,000, donors fund the creation and distribution of 5,000 custom Heaven Cards for a specific nation – complete with culturally relevant images, local language gospel videos, and a digital landing page.
This includes monthly analytics to track impact, prayer guides and, perhaps the most meaningful benefit, the promise of meeting someone in heaven who came to faith because of your efforts.
Mike also has initiatives in place for teenagers which address questions like “Who am I?” and “Am I loved?” – each with personalized video responses from other young people. He’s even planning an animated series for children called “The Heaven Kids,” which is scheduled to launch in the next year.
To get involved in Mike’s mission, you can do several things.
First, explore his website at www.theheavenguy.org to read articles in the Heaven Series, browse resources, and learn more about the gospel message.
Then, order Heaven Cards from the online store to keep with you and share with others, whether it’s a waiter at a restaurant or a friend at church.
Finally, you can support Mike’s Ambassador Program by adopting a country or helping fund gospel outreach on a global scale.
For more information, reach out personally by emailing him at mike@theheavenguy.org. He welcomes questions, comments, and offers of support from anyone wanting to help expand this mission.
Mike’s message is simple, but powerful. Heaven is not a distant hope; rather it’s a real, joyful, vibrant future and we are called to live with that in mind. As he put it, “If there’s a problem, it’s probably because we’re too earthly minded and not heavenly minded enough.”
Let this episode be a nudge to set your heart and mind on things above and to help others do the same.
