In Episode 176, David Frost outlines how he helps people to thrive well past 50

Today, I am joined by David Frost. He is a retired Navy officer, author, endurance athlete and world record holder who proves that age is not a limitation unless you allow it to become one.

At age 73, David recently helped a team set a world record by rowing the equivalent of 189 miles on an indoor rowing machine over a 24-hour period. But his story goes far beyond athletic achievement.

In our conversation, David shares several important lessons for anyone moving through midlife and beyond.

First, he explains why finding your personal “kryptonite” early can help you live longer, healthier and more vibrant years. For David, that meant discovering a hereditary heart condition before it became a life-threatening problem.

Second, he discusses the importance of being proactive about your health. Rather than waiting for symptoms to appear, David encourages people to seek diagnostic testing, ask questions and become active participants in their own well-being.

Third, he talks about the difference between simply getting older and continuing to thrive. David believes we all have a responsibility to invest in our physical health through movement, strength, fitness and purpose.

Finally, he shares why purpose, curiosity and resilience remain essential ingredients for a meaningful life well after age 50.

If you’ve ever wondered how to stay active, engaged and optimistic as you grow older, you’re going to enjoy this conversation.

David is living proof that purpose doesn’t retire.

After turning 50, and especially after facing health challenges in his 70s, David found renewed meaning in helping others understand how to live stronger, healthier and more intentional lives.

Through his books, speaking engagements and educational outreach, he is on a mission to help people identify potential health risks early, stay physically active and make choices that support long-term vitality.

His message is simple: We cannot stop aging, but we can influence how we age.

David is the author of “Kaboomer: Thriving and Striving Into Your 90s” and “Strong to Save: Your Gen X Imperative to Die Harder and Later.”

He is also working on a new book focused on preventing cardiovascular disease and helping people better understand the health choices that shape their future.

If you’re a military veteran, David even offers complimentary copies of his books to those who have served.

As David reminded us during this conversation, whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right. His challenge to all of us is to focus less on our calendar age and more on the choices that help us continue thriving.
