Today I have the privilege of speaking with Andrew Matthews, an internationally-recognized speaker, illustrator and bestselling author of “Being Happy,” “Follow Your Heart,” “Bouncing Back” and ten other books which have helped millions of people find joy and purpose.
Andrew’s insights into happiness are refreshingly simple, yet very impactful. In our conversation, he shares how he discovered that the happiest people often have bigger challenges than the rest of us. That realization set him on a lifelong quest to understand happiness.
He also explains why gratitude, self-acceptance and connection are essential ingredients for a fulfilling life.
If you’re struggling to find passion or purpose in your next chapter, Andrew offers some fantastic advice. You never know what might spark new excitement in your life.
Get ready for an inspiring discussion about happiness, resilience and the power of perspective. His wisdom on happiness, purpose, and resilience is something we can all take to heart.
Throughout our discussion, he reminded us that happiness isn’t about waiting for life to get easier. Rather, it’s about choosing how we respond to life’s ups and downs. As he put it, we have to train ourselves to focus on what we have, rather than on what’s missing.
Andrew’s books have touched millions of people worldwide, offering practical strategies to improve our outlook on life. They include:
- “Being Happy,” his first bestseller, explores the mindset shifts that lead to greater joy.
- “Follow Your Heart” dives into finding meaning in our careers and everyday work.
- “Being a Happy Teen” was written to help young people navigate life with confidence.
- And his latest book, “Bouncing Back,” is a timely guide to overcoming setbacks, which is something we all face at different points in life.
Andrew’s signature blend of humor, storytelling and illustration makes these books both insightful and engaging.
One of my favorite takeaways from this conversation was Andrew’s advice to explore new passions by making a game of it. If you’re not sure what excites you anymore, Google a list of 100 hobbies, circle 20 that stand out, and start trying them. You never know what will light your fire until you put yourself out there.
